Kauai's Rich History
Our resort draws on the rich history of Kauai to provide a unique point of distinction and create a signature experience for all our guests. Kōloa, which translates to “tall cane,” refers to a variety of locally grown sugarcane that has been an integral part of Hawai‘i’s history. The town of Kōloa, from which the resort draws its namesake, was the backdrop to the first sugarcane plantation founded in the early 1800s by Englishman John Wilkinson. The sugarcane from this region is renowned for its distinctive depth of flavor, a result of the mineral-rich soil derived from ancient volcanic activity.
